Loved this hotel, very beautiful building, stunning surroundings. A few things I really appreciated were: the bathroom mirror on the wall next to the sink, so much easier to use, lots of sockets in the room, conservatory was stunning and there were lots of little nooks and crannies to sit in. A lake was in view from the breakfast area with swans and birds. Not close to amenities but great for the outdoor explorer! Bacon and sausages at breakfast, very tasty, one of the best I have had.

First appearance lovely location and buildings outside plenty of parking country walks all around hotel, welcoming staff , we booked with Wowcher so room provided through voucher it was clean & fresh but not very spacious, double bed clean n comfortable lovely bathroom could have done with more vanity shelves so lacking in hotels these days for makeup toiletries etc. Tea n coffee etc in room tv with free WiFi. Restaurant pleasant and staff very friendly, food a little disappointed with steak cooked to perfection but fatty, stilton sauce was lacking in taste, they didn't do cocktails , nor special coffees ie gaelic Scottish liquor coffees etc, asked for coffee with cream instead of milk which waitress obliged but given milky coffee from machine with pot of cream. Quiet in room most of night except for guests slamming room doors early maybe a request/sign to ask guests to leave and close their doors quietly. But amazing walks around hotel peaceful atmosphere. If I stayed again I'd just have bed n breakfast as continental breakfast was lovely and upgrade to larger room.

Broken chair in room not replaced. Asked in morning. Asked again afternoon. Second time in afternoon I asked again and I was told we have have chains. Which meant that at no point did they actually listen to me or try to resolve issue. Even after asking for a chair and saying I will take it to room myself I was not helped but instead told to go wait in room while receptionist had chat with coworkers about weekend plans.

I have to say some of the reviews on here are unfair portrayal of this hotel, at the discounted price it's great value in stunning surroundings. And upgraded another £10.00 for the breakfast, we have no complaints and will book again. Drew

El entorno es maravilloso, las habitaciones muy cómodas, si tuviese que poner alguna pega, seria el hecho de tener que decidir que cenar, dos días antes, ademas de que la decoración de zonas comunes interiores, podrían mejorar.

We stayed for 2 nights on a good price through an offer. Our mistake was probably to look at the pics of the outside and some of the reviews and expect a 4 rather than 3 star hotel, which it definitely isn’t. For us the hotel was a mixture of good and not good. The outside and the grounds are lovely, as is the location if you’re happy to be out of town. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. But our room was very small although clean, the bed was small too, a standard double I suppose. There was a box of tissues in the room but they were so thin as to be useless. The shower (in bath) was good though. A 1970’s style toilet seat was a bit of a surprise. We thought the restaurant was rather expensive and the service in it was at times slow. And the restaurant floor didn’t always seem to be cleaned between dinner and breakfast. They close the conservatory bar in the evening and ask you to use the restaurant bar. Which is fine but there are only I think 3 tables that aren’t for dining in there and they were all in use when we wanted a drink before dinner. I would say the hotel is good value if you get one of the offers but think 3 stars not 4, have dinner somewhere else and expect a very small room.

We visited for a spontaneous, last minute couple of nights as we wanted to pop across to visit Jeremy Clarkson's farm shop and pub, which is around an hour away. We got a really good deal on the room, so honestly weren't expecting a great deal but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We arrived very late so were checked in by the night porter who was very friendly. The room we had was very small, but cosy, clean and comfortable, though understandably a small double bed (there just wasn't space for anything bigger). We were happy in there for a couple of nights however if we were to return for more than 2, we'd likely pay more to stay in a slightly bigger space with a larger bed. The following morning we had breakfast at the hotel, which was a buffet style and very tasty, though I'd maybe suggest metal dishes to hold the food as the ceramic doesn't quite keep it hot enough, even with the lights on it. We went out for the day, returning mid afternoon for a coffee in the conservatory where we sat quietly admiring the view over the gardens/country park. Returned to our room to find the bed had been made up by the housekeepers despite not asking them to, which was lovely. It's a beautiful area and has a very calming feeling about it. Over all, the staff we encountered were friendly and efficient. We'll definitely return. :)

Beautiful old building with a modern extention were it was hard to see the join. We stopped off for lunch in Orangery which did get rather hot in the sun shine. Food and service were good and we had a enjoyable lunch.

Initially run by Honda for its visiting staff as their factory was down the road, sold of and taken over someone/ others else, has a nice restaurant with good food, room was small, but not a worry as we were only using it as a base to sleep and didn't notice when eyes were shut, bed to us was very small. Was looking at several hotels and picked this one thinking it was a spa hotel with swimming pool and would get a couple of treatments (me a massage and the wife a colonic irrigation), but not so, and had I known, I would have picked one closer in Swindon town. A bit of maintenance is required Nice grounds to walk around.

My husband and I, had a wonderful stay on the weekend, celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. While the hotel is lovely, our entire experience was made extra special by a lovely lady named Shelly she and the other team members that we came into contact with were wonderful and made the whole stay fantastic.

We have just ended our stay at the Stanton house hotel and I can safely say upon leaving we have all agreed that we can't possibly understand how this hotel got a 4 star rating. Upon checking in the Lady behind the desk was lovely however for two adults and one child staying we were only given one room key which really didn't work for our plans, the staff did rectify this some hours later around 8pm which was very helpful. Our room was great for a one night stay if you were just sleeping there without a young child. However we were there with a young child and had brought toys for her to play with however when we were laying the toys out for her to play with we noticed how dirty the skirting and floor were so were unable to let her play there. The bed was extremely comfortable which was brilliant after a long day. The bathroom however did not meet the the four star rating from peeling paint on the ceiling, stained shower curtain, cracked side of the bath and towels that smelled of takeaway food. As you can imagine getting out of a shower you look forward to smelling fresh and clean, so coming out to dry ourselves with towels that smelled of takeaway was not ideal especially with a fussy toddler who then made it difficult to dry her due to her towel being "yucky". The tea and coffee section of the room had a good variety of teas, coffees and two hot chocolate sachets however the water station was not enough for two adults let alone two adults and a child, one small bottle of still water and one small of sparkling. I think this could be easily rectified by doubling up if budget allows it. Upon leaving the lady at reception was much ruder and actually ignored me however I will say she did not ignore my partner. Once we reached our car in the car park we saw the broken glass where people had obviously smashed either a large glass bottle or a number of glass bottles, now our daughter is in Crocs which were not fit to walk over glass so we carried her over and popped her in the car whilst my partner went to reception to ask for someone to clear it up as it still posed a risk of damaging his car tires. The receptionist once again was very rude did not apologise for the glass or the inconvenience and started shouting at a cleaner and my partner "get a brush for this guy" and told him to sweep it up himself and bring them the broom back. Not very professional at all no apology for the inconvenience and no thank you for notifying them just shouting.

Stunning hotel with a stunning drive and grounds to match. I could have easily spent a whole day just here walking along the pond and poking around the church on the grounds. The front desk staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the only English breakfast I got during my trip, so well worth it. It is a bit further away from downtown than I expected, but the cab rides did make it easy to see more of the town than we could on foot.
